Terms of Service
Last updated: June 5, 2026
Welcome to Who Did It? (the "Game"), a mystery social deduction party game provided by the developer ("we," "us," or "our").
By accessing or using the Game, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Game.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By using the Game, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms of Service. We may update these terms at any time. Continued use of the Game after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
2. Description of Service
Who Did It? is a social deduction party game where players investigate fictional crimes. The Game is available as a web application and as an Android mobile app. The web version may display advertisements through Google AdSense. The Android version may display advertisements through Google AdMob and offer optional in-app purchases to remove ads.
3. User Eligibility
By using the Game, you represent that you are at least 13 years of age. If you are under 13, you may not use the Game. Users under 18 should use the Game with the supervision of a parent or guardian.
4. User Responsibilities
You agree to use the Game only for its intended purpose: a social deduction party game played in good faith with other players. You agree not to:
- Use the Game for any illegal or unauthorized purpose.
- Attempt to disrupt, hack, or compromise the Game's functionality or security.
- Harass, threaten, or abuse other players through the Game.
- Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to interact with the Game.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Game.
- Use the Game to distribute malware, spam, or harmful content.
5. Accounts and Data
Who Did It? does not require user accounts. Player names entered during a game session are stored temporarily and used only for gameplay purposes within that session. Room data is stored temporarily in Firebase Realtime Database and expires automatically after 4 hours of inactivity.
If you choose to provide a Gemini API key, it is stored locally on your device using browser local storage and is not transmitted to our servers.
6. Intellectual Property
The Game, including its code, design, story content (AI-generated and pre-written), character names, artwork, and branding, is the intellectual property of the developer unless otherwise stated. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works of the Game without explicit permission.
AI-generated story content is created dynamically using the Google Gemini API based on prompts designed by the developer. The output of the AI is considered part of the Game's content.
7. Third-Party Services
The Game uses the following third-party services, each governed by their own terms and policies:
- Firebase (Google): Hosting and real-time database for room functionality.
- Google Gemini API: AI story generation when a user provides their own API key.
- Google AdSense: Advertising on the web version.
- Google AdMob and RevenueCat: Advertising and in-app purchases on the Android version.
- Google Analytics: Anonymous usage analytics to improve the Game.
We are not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of these third-party services.
8. Advertising
The web version of Who Did It? uses Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites. Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings.
The Android version may display advertisements through Google AdMob. An optional in-app purchase removes advertisements from the Android version.
9. Limitation of Liability
The Game is provided "as is" without any warranty, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the Game will be error-free, uninterrupted, or secure. We are not liable for any damages arising from the use or inability to use the Game, including but not limited to direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
AI-generated content may contain unexpected or inaccurate information. The Game is a work of fiction, and any resemblance to real persons, events, or locations is purely coincidental.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold the developer harmless from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from your use of the Game or violation of these Terms of Service.
11. Termination
We reserve the right to terminate or restrict access to the Game at any time without prior notice for any reason, including violation of these Terms of Service.
12. Governing Law
These Terms of Service shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the applicable laws. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be resolved through amicable negotiation.
13. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Game after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
